Visit California launches “Where Every Stop Becomes a Story” campaign highlighting rural California travel experiences, including California’s North Coast region. The film series, developed in partnership with More Than Just Parks, showcases the hidden regions of California.

According to More than Just Parks, the North Coast region (aka North of Ordinary California) is … “Fog draped, rugged, wild. The California that feels more like the edge of the world than the edge of the state.”

The film series invites travelers to slow down, take the long way, and discover the California that reveals itself through spontaneous stops, open landscapes, and authentic local experiences. The series inspires and celebrates the unexpected moments and meaningful connections found when travelers explore California’s lesser-traveled roads.

Over the course of a year, More Than Just Parks traveled throughout eight rural areas of California–including the North Coast–capturing the mountain air, desert light, quiet roads, time on the water, and long meals at the end of the day that define California beyond its cities.

The film features lesser-known hidden gems in Lake County, Humboldt County, Del Norte County, and Mendocino County. From towering giant redwood trees to hidden beaches and the oldest natural lake in California, the North of Ordinary California region remains relatively untouched and undiscovered by travelers.
